Ashwin is now included in Team India in place of the injured Akshar Patel

Patel is out of Team India due to injury. India Play first match against Australia in ICC World Cup on October 8

Spin all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin has been included in the Indian team for the World Cup. Ashwin has been included in place of all-rounder Akshar Patel who could not recover from the injury. ICC gave this information to the media on Thursday. The last day for changes in the World Cup squad was Thursday.

It will take four weeks for Akshar to recover from the injury. 29 year old spinner all rounder Akshar Patel was injured during the Super-4 League match of the Asia Cup. Efforts were being made for his recovery, but he could not recover.

Washington Sundar was also in the race

There was already a possibility of Akshar Patel being out of the team due to injury. Washington Sundar was also in the race in place of Akshar, but Ashwin’s experience was given importance.

Ashwin had just played 2 matches in the three-match series against Australia and took 4 wickets. Team India had given a chance to the seniors in the Rajkot ODI, but Akshar was not fit at that time. Therefore Ashwin got a place in the World Cup team.
